Ron attended the Buncombe County Democratic convention, will attend the District Convention, and may attend the State Convention; to E’mon Fakar for being crowned Miss Buncombe County-FFI (For Female Impersonators). She will be competing in June for Miss NC-FFI; to Jackie Steele for winning First Runner- up to Miss Winston-Salem-FFI. Participation in the group is open to any lesbian or gay man interested in, or already working on, recovery from codependency. Meeting agendas use the 12-step recovery format and include a sharing time. Orange Street is just off Merrimon Avenue near Chestnut. The meeting room is currently upstairs, but if you have difficulty locating the right room, just ask someone for the location of the CODA meeting. ▼ Attention Gay Male Couples Gay male couples living together needed for study by gay male graduate student. AGLCC has purchased a new answering machine that makes it possible to record a much longer message than was previously possible. ▼ The Documentation Project needs you! We would like to extend this service beyond Buncombe County, but need more help to do so. If you would like to help record incidents of discrimination, harassment, or violence against lesbians and gay men, please contact Martha Copeland at 254-2485. ▼ Lesbian Couple Celebrates 10th Charlotte Goedsche and Cynthia Janes will celebrate the 10th anniversary of their life-partnership in the Parish Hall of All Souls Church, corner of Hendersonville Road (U.S. 25) and Angle Street (just north of I-40), in the Biltmore area of Asheville, on Saturday, May 4, from 5 to 7 PM. Everyone in the gay and lesbian community and their friends are invited to the celebration. Please bring your favorite appetizer to share. Beer, punch and soft drinks will be provided. ▼ National AIDS Lobby Days All over the country from May 25 to June 3, individuals and organizations will be visiting their Senators and Representatives in their district offices to urge action on the HIV-epidemic. The AIDS epidemic continues to spread. Opponents of adequate spending and programs continue to hinder our ability to combat the threat we face. Direct, personal contact with your Representatives and Senators will make an important difference. Members of Congress need to be told that AIDS involves people, people we love and care for, people whose lives must be saved. Field Associate Needed The Human Rights Campaign Fund, a national lesbian/gay political organization, is looking for volunteer organizers in targeted Congressional districts in the Southeast and Southwest. Our Field Associate program offers great opportunity to learn field organizing skills. Affect the national political process for lesbian and gay civil rights and work with top professionals in Washington, D.C.
